BEDLAM is always an appropriate name for the OU / OSU game and the one played last Saturday lived up to it’s name.  Both OU’s and OSU’s defenses were helpless as the two Offenses traded scores up and down the field.  Though all Sooner fans were looking for improvement in Defense and more stops, it was not to be as Mike Gundy’s offense scored nearly every time to answer OU’s last score.

Kyler Murray played at Heisman Trophy level as he passed and ran all over the field of play. He was ably supported by the Sooner Rushing squad (down to it’s last two runners, Trey Sermon and Kennedy Brooks) as Sermon ran for 126 yards, mostly in the first Half and Kennedy Brooks rushed for 165 yards in place of Sermon most of the rest of the game.  Murray completed his first 11 pass attempts in the game and then completed 6 of the next 7 attempts with the miss an intentional toss our of bounds. Kyler completed 21 passes for the game for 349 yards.

OU achieved 702 total yards for the game and OSU accounted for 649 yards, an offensive display akin to a video game!  Las Vegas had the “Over” points at 79 1/2 and the two teams passed that number in the third quarter.  In the closing minutes OSU drove for a touchdown and then had the choice to kick the extra point for a tie or to go for 2 points to win the game.  In his usual style Gundy went for the win and OU’s defense came through in knocking the pass down and preserving the victory for the Sooners 48 – 47!

The next opponent up is the Kansas Jayhawks.  The game will be played in Norman, OK with kickoff at 6:30 pm.
