The fifth-ranked Sooners claimed a fourth consecutive league title, something only a handful of programs have ever accomplished in major college football. Their reward: A spot in the College Football Playoff. Ousting the 14th-ranked Texas Longhorns 39-27 Saturday afternoon at AT&T Stadium, the Sooners will now play Alabama in the Orange Bowl on December 29th in their second straight and third CFP berth in the last four seasons.

Unlike the first meeting with Texas, quarterback Kyler Murray was clean, taking care of the ball. Like most every outing this season, Murray proved to be phenomenal, throwing the ball all over Jerry’s Palace to the tune of 379 yards and three touchdowns touchdowns.  The offense outplayed Texas in every category; passing, running, total yards and most importantly in scoring!

And the defense provided plenty of pizazz as well, recording a safety and a pick to seal it. It was a far different cry than the first time around. The defense produced a number on hurries and 3 sacks on QB Ehlinger and did a credible job on the shorthorn running game.  The biggest plays were the safety on Ehlinger, which came on a corner blitz called by DC Ruffin McNeill and the interception by Tre Norwood which effectively sealed the OU victory!
