The Sooners responded from a tight Army game to show their early season form against the Baylor Bears.  The Offense was potent and performed nearly flawlessly and the Defense was much improved over the previous week.

Redshirt Junior Kyler Murray tossed 6 touchdown passes and ran for another as the Sooners defeated Baylor 66 to 33.  Kyler joined Baker Mayfield as the only OU Quarterbacks to record 7 total touchdowns in a single game.  Kyler sat out the first offensive series and then came on to throw for 432 yards and 6 touchdowns.  Murray also ran for 45 yards and another touchdown in the game.

The OU Defense held Baylor to 77 yards rushing for the game and foiled the Bears on 13 of 20 third down plays. It was a significantly better performance than the Sooner defense mustered against the Army squad the previous week.

The Sooners will need that defensive performance and more this week against a rising Texas team.  Texas is 4-0 going into the Red River showdown for the first time in several years and the Longhorns are showing better on both sides of the ball this year than they have performed in recent memory. OU will need all of it’s playmakers to be at top form to win this OU-Texas battle which has historically been a series of close ball games.

OU opens as a 7.5 point favorite but score forecasts can be thrown out once the game kicks off.  This match up is always a battle that is won upfront between the Offensive and Defensive lines.  OU has no significant injuries from the previous games this year so the Sooners will have all their current starters in their positions for the game.

OU – Texas is always a real fight to the last ticks of the clock and we will need all the Sooner fans to cheer them on to victory over the Bevo’s below the Red River!  Come join the OU Club of Memphis and Mid South at the club’s game watch at Skimo’s Restaurant!  11:00 a.m. is the kickoff for the best game of the year!
